Kana Lui Miami
About Us
The Club
Kana Lui Miami was started in September of 2004 by
Tim Streeter and Jon Sinnreich to promote the sport
of outrigger canoe racing in the Miami area. We
accept adults of all ages who are fitness/adventure
minded and who wish to share a competitive sport
while fostering the aloha spirit and the Hawaiian
virtues of an extended and strong ohana. We are
currently developing a keiki (youth) program.
New Member Information
Kana Lui Miami is based in Key Biscayne, Florida
and is located at The Miami Rowing and Watersports
Center, 3601 Rickenbacher Causeway, immediately
East of the old Miami Marine Stadium, (enter at the
Marine Stadium entrance). See the Calendar link for
practice times, and the Contact Us link for directions.
Club Dues and Other Costs
For the 2008 season club dues are $120 for the year.
The first five practices are free. Dues are used to
cover the cost of canoe storage, membership dues
to the Miami Rowing Club, equipment repair, and
novice paddles. Kana Lui Miami is a 501c(3)
non-profit organization.
Race fees typically include a $20-$30 registration fee
and paddlers are responsible for travel and other
related costs. We have practice paddles; however,
most members eventually purchase a practice and
racing paddle.
